More information about Opal Unset free-form crystal
These crystal opal stones and their close cousin, white opals or milk opal are some of the best  in the world because of the fact that crystals and white opals have been mined for centuries, if not for thousands of years. European supplies came from the mines in Hungary which are all but mined out now for these stones The difference between crystal and “white opals is that crystals are more translucent, in that you can actually see down deep into the stone. White opals is opaque, the color being on the surface of the stone. Crystal opals are the more expensive variety.

Where do they come from?

Dark and Black Opals are mainly from Lightning Ridge. This one is a fossilized stone that has been carved into an undulating shape and is more crystal than dark. It comes from the Coocoran field near the Ridge and has been carved using diamond dremmel tools so that the precious opal is exposed for the best effect.

Description  This beautiful  piece flashes just about all colors and yet it is quite translucent so that you can look deep into the stone. The theme color is green but it is set against a backdrop of yellows, oranges and flashes of blue.
