Ring Varieties

There are multitudes of different types of finger rings. Most well known are wedding bands, engagement, friendship, school rings, Signet, dress etc. The ring shown here could be described as a dress ring but it can be adapted to wedding and friendship as well.

Most opals from Australia are multi colored. However some also come with single colors and are ok for the faceting process which is exemplified in this delightful clear amber stone.

This ring is made from pure sterling silver and both sides of the shank are peppered with tiny grain set diamonds which provide a wonderful adjunct to the main opal feature stone.

The ring is quite straight forward in presentation, with the use of four claws to hold the facets securely.

Sparkling amber crystal opal ring

Faceted amber crystal opal with grain set diamond clusters set in sterling silver.

What is the difference between a faceted opal ring and a cabochon?

Basically a cabochon opal is a stone with a rounded or domed top. It apparently comes from a French word meaning ‘Bald Head’

But in the case of faceted stones, it just means that the opal has been cut with facets so that the light bounces off from different angles and adds sparkle to the stone without having to have a variety of colors like most other Australian opals.

This is just a different way of presenting the stone and gives a fresh approach to opals which are generally cut with a domed top

Note: Please request finger size before ordering. Price includes international airmail and it comes in a lovely gift box or gem pouch.
