Humor- at Lightning Ridge Opal Fields. It gets pretty hot and sticky at Lightning Ridge. That’s why a lot of folks head for the coast around November each year and don’t go back until about March or April when things cool down a bit.
Mind you we are totally spoilt nowadays with our air-conditioned houses and cars. Aún, apart from the fun and excitement that can be experienced chasing for opal, humor is a wonderful addition to whatever we are doing and for certain, there are a lot of things to laugh at both at the opal fields and anywhere you choose to live.

At Lightning Ridge you will find folks from just about every part of the world who have left their previous countries behind where often there was a lot of trouble and strife, to live in a place where there is much more interest in finding opals than fighting with one another.
Desafortunadamente, a lot of the old characters have now passed away but there are still a lot battling on, some who came to spend just a few weeks but liked the place so much, they never left.
