Origin of this Opal
Queensland is the only place in the world as far as we can tell, where boulder opal is found.
Boulder opals vary between small ‘nuts’ found in Yowah and Koroit to the south of the state.
Larger boulders with veins of opal range from Quilpie in the south to Winton area in the north.

Often boulder opals are a dark color. This wonderful free form piece has a cream background with heaps of different colors and shades in a picture stone style.

Set in sterling silver, the strips of color featuring mainly green with accompanying shades is intermingled with cream potch. A very large showpiece for someone who really likes statement pendants.
