Origin of this Opal

Queensland  is the only place in the world as far as we can tell, where boulder opal is found.

Boulder opals vary between small ‘nuts’ found in Yowah and Koroit to the south of the state.

Larger boulders with veins of opal range from Quilpie in the south to Winton area in the north.

Opal Pendant

Special design sterling silver opal pendant featuring a unique boulder opal picture stone from the Queensland Australia fields

Opal Pendant special design

Boulder opals often comes with pictures in them. Sometimes identifiable with objects in nature, other times just abstract like an original oil. This unique piece is more abstract but if you look closely has a small crocodile head poking out from the brown ironstone patter.  It also has opal sparkles  of pink, green, and blue along with cream potch.
